Sampling is a fundamental phase of any analytical process, as its purpose is to provide the laboratory with a representative portion of a larger entity. This portion, known as a sample, can be an industrial product, a sample from a natural or industrial environment, or the description of a process in a specific point in time and/or space.

Sampling is a delicate phase as its accuracy influences the analytical outcome and the assessment of the reality it is required to describe. For this reason, sampling must be carried out in accordance with a series of operations coded by standardised technical regulations that guarantee repeatability. In particular, Lifeanalytics carries out sampling in the following sectors:

  • Environmental: sampling of air, water, soil and waste to verify the presence of pollutants, including the sampling of materials containing asbestos.
Industrial hygiene: sampling of working environments to assess health risks
  • Product safety: sampling of materials and products in contact with food and people to verify compliance with regulations; sampling of substances, compounds and products to verify compliance with REACH and RoHS regulations.
  • Food: sampling of food to verify food safety.
  • Cosmetics & medical devices: sampling of cosmetics and medical devices to verify compliance with regulations.
  • Engineering: sampling of old and modern materials for the verification of composition, state of conservation, static and dynamic structural resistance and other related aspects.

At Lifeanalytics, sampling is an activity that is carried out across all the business units. The sampling team, which is comprised of 150 professionals, is capable of covering the entire country and of managing an extremely high volume of samples for its clients:
