Geotechnics

Geotechnics is a branch of civil engineering that studies mechanical performance and the properties of terrain and rock. Through laboratory and field tests, geotechnical engineers assess resistance, compressibility, permeability and other characteristics of geological material, collecting crucial information for the designing of stable foundations, terrain support works, drainage systems and containment structures, guaranteeing the safety and the durability of civil works and infrastructure.
